The "Pioneers" is an all girl band which is composed of 7 members, the vocalist, guitarist, bassist, pianist, kajon player or the drummer, violinist and not to mention, the 2nd voice and the rain maker holder.Each member of the band have their passion for music, and everyone has their own unique ability to make music. The band doesn't have a certain genre, because it is known for being diverse. It can be rock, metal rock, acoustic, classic, rnb, mellow or even hiphop and many more.
History:
It all started when the CHSM highschool Council of Leaders are preparing for a post halloween party, a first ever halloween celebration of the 1st highschool batch in 20th century. It was the 4th year students who are always complaining about not having any events in the school. So the COL officers made a decision to have a post halloween celebration "We scare because we care" (monsters inc.). The program does contains a lot of competitions, and one of them is the band competition. It is a battle among first year-4th year students. Every year level is required to have a band representative with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7 members and were asked to play 2 songs, one is a required song which is "OO by Up dharma down" and the other is the band's chosen song.
And so, the 4th years students only have 2 sections, Fortitude and Knowledge. The 4th yr. Fortitude only has 3 members willing to compete... Dowee, Aixia and Jazz and Knowledge have Mel, Gwen and Faith. Since the 2 sections only have 3 members every band, the 4th yr. students decided to combine and work together as one band. Some students were added to form a better music and the problem started. 7 is the maximum number of members, we were 9, but it all worked out because Mel is the the president of the COL, she is needed to organize everything that time. The band has then have 8 members to compete for the battle... Aixia, Dowee, Jazz, Isay, Faith, Gwen, Genie and Christine.
The battle requires the bands to have their own band names. So the 4th yr. thought of a name which connects them to each other, a name that'll be a part of their lives for a very long time. They even wonder what bonds them together besides music even though they have a lot of differences. And then, they came up with a name that they know they shared for some time, and will treasure their friendship for all times. That is how they got their band name, the "PIONEERS".
And so, the practicing went on until the songs were so ready to play! It didn't bother that the band was consist of 8 members even though it must only have 7. It was November 7, 2007 5pm, when the post halloween celebration began and everyone was dressed in their halloween costume. When the hostess said to stand by because the next competition is the battle of the bands, every band from every year level went out and they were all looking like rockstars (rockerzz pare, stigz!) exept for the Pioneers, they were wearing their halloween costumes.
So the battle started, the first to perform are from the 1st year followed by the 2nd year and 3rd year, and each section has a band representative exept for the 4th year students. It all seemed like the lower batch doesn't know the song OO by Up dharma down because they turned it into rock version which they need not to do because its not a remake. The bands were good actually, and luckily the Pioneers know the song of the Up dharma down perfectly; and the other song the Pioneers played was What can i do by the Corrs.

The songs were good and the band was great... The Pioneers won! After that, the lower batch complained about the Pioneers having 8 members and proudly the teacher answered that "It is not in the amount of population, its in the amount of population that makes the music great." The band was so happy that time and it even made them very happy when the found out that the College Dept. knew about it, and they were inviting the band to play for the intermission number during the College Global Warming Seminar. They were proud and thankful of the band playing that time although, it is not yet their very best.:)
After some time, a text message received by the vocalist saying, "This is ate carla, President of the College Dept. I introduced your band to my friend at studio 23, they will help you promote your band on behalf of our school." It was really shocking.. and so she replied, "Thanks ate carla! I can't wait to tell my bandmates!" And so she did, and evryone was shocked and willing to play exept for one, Faith. She said it not what she wants... "Kayo nalang.." She said that she'll concentrate on broadcasting. The band members respected her decision, and it all worked out.
The Pioneers were asked to be a part in the Spirit Ablaze Bandfest Showdown on Feb. 2, 2008. It was really exiting to the band that they practiced remaking songs because the theme is "Their Song, Our Style: The Best Remake" not knowing that it will be plugged in Magic 89.9 live! and also, for them being the only highschool students who will be joining and the rest were all colleges and outsiders. Some are from ADMU, UE, Assumption, San Beda and many more. When the band heard about that, it shocked them a lot and causes them to practiced much harder. The showdown was a "People's Choice Award" so the band need to gain the highschool depts. support. No doubt that the 4thyr. students will support the band and the PRC (members of the board in the HS dept.). And so, they endorsed their band in every section in the highschool dept. and fortunately was succesful.
Then, 2 weeks before the bandfest, the Pioneers heard some news that there were other bands who will be joining from their highschool department. Honestly, they were shocked, but it remained as a more challenging situation to them. Feb. 2, 2008, the bandfest began. It was right! all of them are college students and again... most of them are rockers!!! Amazing! The rocking never ends! Only 2 bands weren't doing the rocking, a band with 3 members and the Pioneers! It seemed really quiet in the audience even though it very noisy. The Pioneers were the 7th competitors and when the Pioneers went out and the auditorium was full, you will hear almost everyone screaming for the Pioneers as they were fixing their instruments! The guest was Kitkat from ABS-CBN, a comedian/actress. Others can't barely hear her because of the screaming. It was good. She is funny! She also the one who introduced the Pioneers! They played Hate that I Love You So by Rihanna ft. Ne-yo in Raggae version and they created a Medley for the second song.
The performance was a complete success! Everyone was screaming for the Pioneers, the teachers, highschool and college students stood up to dance on the sides of the auditorium. The Pioneers has the most unique style in the bandfest, and was known as the "Most Admired Band". (that means... Pioneers won!) After the performance of the Pioneers, the people in the auditorium went out and that was left was maybe 20 people, to think that the bandfest is not yet over! Pioneers are only the 7th competitors but there are 8 competitors left to perform. Everyone went out to congratulate the Pioneers and some went to to next one which is the band concert.
The band fixed their intruments and ready to go home because they were tired when suddenly, ate carla came to congratulate the Pioneers and saying, "Could you perform in the band concert together with the other front act bands and the major bands?". Whoa! A big surprise to play with the front act band and the major bands!!! The front act band was a boy band with really good music. And the major bands are Chicosi, Join the Club and K24/7. At that moment we get to play as one of the front act bands! But, because of the people leaving the auditorium during the bandfest with 8 bands left to perform, they still gave an opportunity to the bands to play during the band concert. Not all get to play, because the time is running out for the front act bands and major bands to perform which they need to because the school paid them.
Unfortunately, the Pioneers weren't able to play that night. But, the day after that night came the shocking news! "You'll play in HHS as one of the front act bands!"-teacher "Would you like to play the front act band?"-Union Motors "Can you give us a record of your own composition?"-MTV "Can you play during the ALL STARS? you're the only band who'll be playing."-ate carla "huy, ako manager niyo ah!"-Mel "Ayan na, ako na manager niyo! Ako naghahanap ng mga gig niyo."-Mr. Ulaye.
So, that's how the Pioneers started... and I'm proud to say that I am one of the Pioneers. I am Aixia, the Vocalist. We're only graduating highschool students of 07-08. After that, it will be the time to plan on whats going to happend to the Pioneer Band.
